97.7FM WRBJ receives nomination for Southern Entertainment Awards Station of the Year.
97.7FM The Beat of the Capital has been nominated in the station of the year category of the Southern Entertainment Awards. In addition, midday personality Kwasi Kwa has received two nominations for #1 male personality and program director of the year. 97.7FM continues to receive accolades in a year where the station charted a new direction launching a new format and branding campaign. This year the station has a received the radio community service award from the Mississippi Association of Broadcasters. It has added two highly regarded syndication programs the Rickey Smiley Morning Show and the Michael Baisden Show. It started streaming the signal on the Internet and offers an on-line music store where listeners can purchase songs they hear on the station. General manager Keith Smith states “We’ve been very aggressive in changing the direction of this station and providing a product that the community embraces. Receiving awards and nominations is just confirmation that the public is embracing our changes”. WRBJ-FM is the sister station of CW34 WRBJ-TV in Jackson, MS. |
